The sounds of local band, The Blue Party, are already known in the South, having recently been heard all over the Midwest. The "Ameriparty" band (that's an Americorps reference, for those of you not indoctrinated to the ways of the A) are about to head back on tour this July. Lucky for us, lead singer Reid Martin and his band are in town until then, and staying active while at home. Tomorrow night, this ‘traveling house party’ will play Tipitina’s for a mere $7. Those seven clams, however, will go to the Alabama Red Cross to benefit the victims of the devastating tornados that destroyed hundreds of homes and lives last month.

Forming in 2008, most of this ‘Ameriparty’ band is from New Orleans, but drummer Chris Cousins and Bouzouki player George Stathakes are natives of Birmingham; this led to many stop ins at Tuscaloosa and Birmingham for regular shows, and forming strong tie to Alabama as the group’s second home. Tomorrow night’s event is their way of getting involved in efforts being made to support those suffering from this natural disaster, and can be your way of helping as well. The band, who recently released their new full length, Too Young, will play with Lafayette’s electro-popping Royal Teeth, beginning at 9 p.m. If there’s a fun way to make a difference (and you’re eighteen and over), this is it.
