Put down the guacamole. The Boss is coming back to JazzFest. On the festival's first Sunday, Bruce Springsteen will reprise his legendary 2006 appearance at the Fair Grounds, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival announced this morning. That time, he appeared with his roots band from the Seeger sessions. He relied on folk songs and spirituals for the inspired and emotional post-K outing. This year, the Jersey native will ride into town with the E Street Band (minus the late, great saxophonist Clarence Clemons) on the back of "We Take Care of our Own," a new single that mentions the Superdome. The Mid-City stop will be part of a string of U.S. tour dates, which is supporting his new album, Wrecking Ball.

Springsteen appears to be the final addition to the JazzFest schedule. Yesterday, the Fest announced Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will play a solo set of ukulele songs. Day-by-day breakdowns are still forthcoming.

Today, the Fest also filled out a little more of the schedule, revealing which bands would play on which days. As expected, the festival's strong slate of headliners is well-distributed, with Fri., May 4, being the only day that lacks a major headliner. Each day's main headliner is as follows:

April 27: The Beach Boys

April 28: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

April 29: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

May 3: Eddie Vedder

May 4: Zac Brown Band

May 5: The Eagles

May 6: Foo Fighters/Neville Brothers

As always, the schedule for the second Saturday of Fest is packed. Any lineup that includes My Morning Jacket, Irma Thomas, Herbie Hancock, Levon Helm with Mavis Staples and Steve Earle sounds like it is sure to create conflicts.

First Sunday, which will likely be rechristened as Springsteen Day, also looks promising, as Al Green, Dr. John, Janelle Monae, Yolanda Adams, Iron & Wine and a tribute to Alex Chilton from local singer-songwriters all support The Boss. Unfortunately, one or more of those acts will probably be scheduled at the same time as Springsteen.
