Marigny residents have been puzzled by odd signs appearing on neighborhood icons such as gutterpunk standard, the St. Roch Market. (See Photo) The signs advertise an "Interactive Social Contract" and direct readers to something called a "VotoTron." Well, dear readers, mystery solved. The revolution is in fact part of Fringe Fest.

The posters advertise "The Charismatic Battle V & VI" playing tonight and Friday at the Hi Ho Lounge at 7:00. However to call "Charismat" a simple play would be like calling Shakespeare's sonatas limericks. The idea involves simulating a true democracy, governing itself, cutting edge technology, and more than a little theatrics. Of course, that could mean anything, like defining post modernism. 

So, we tracked down creator, and (sometimes guerilla artist,) who insisted we refer to him in this article as "Reebok the Emancipator".

When asked just what the piece was about, Reebok explained, "'The interactive social contract is a new god, not of the heavens, but arising from the very will of the people' - see so it's like a mechanical god, but you know, people like to worship stuff, so they can worship this - I mean - it tells you what to do like the old analog god, but it's web 2.0, so it just tells everybody what they already think!  This is what we call "mass feedback self hypnosis"

Intrigued, but a bit baffled, we asked for something less abstract. Reebok broke it down for us. "I've been telling everybody that is's like a game show, a drinking game, an MC battle and a constitutional convention combined.  It's the future of participatory government!  nobody wants to get involved with boring old politics, but if it involves drinking, and you can win fabulous prizes and there are good looking people telling you what you already think - well, I think we've got a good revolution on our hands."
