Freret's Company Burger Opens

By Brad Rhines

The griddle’s fired up, the fryers are hot, and the guys at Company Burger are ready to rock.  Freret Street’s newest restaurant opened today, serving up burgers, fries, and a whole lot more.  NoDef stopped in to talk to owner and Herbsaint alum Adam Biderman a few weeks ago, just as things were really starting to come together.  Since then, Biderman has shifted into overdrive, working hard to finish the space, get the necessary permits, and complete the final inspections.

Red tape behind him, Biderman is ready to get down to the business of burgers.  Working with Donald Link at Herbsaint was an important step in Biderman’s career, but Biderman told NoDef that it was time for him to start cooking for himself instead of someone else.

Insiders got a sneak peek at Company Burger on Sunday night, when Biderman unlocked the doors for a friends-and-family soft opening.  Though the restaurant focuses on the classic American burger, their approach to the media is very 21st century, using Facebook and Twitter—where @CompanyBurger reached nearly 500 followers before even opening—to spread news and generate buzz.  Several pictures from the soft opening went up on Twitter Sunday night, and the first Yelp review was up earlier today less than a half hour after the doors opened.  While it’s impossible to adequately describe the Company Burger experience in 140 characters, there’s no doubt Biderman will be a trending topic on Freret Street for the foreseeable future.
