Spellbound: Quintron & Miss P Announce Tour, New Projects

Quintron and Miss Pussycat are downtown idols, but they are certainly not idle. The duo just announced a series of spring tour dates as well as the now expected eccentric mix of new projects.

Spellcaster II: Death In Space was released October 28, 2014 through local garage label Pizza Burglar Records. The work features the pair's unique, droning “swamp tech” sound this time with lap steel guitar to add to the far out vibe. The title is a nod to the duo’s Bywater HQ.

The Weather Warlock is a drone synthesizer of Quintron’s creation that responds to temperature, wind, sun, and rain. The device was debuted with a band of the same name in January at Airlift’s Alterpiece installation.

Weather Warlock, the band will also be releasing a live album on Mother’s Day (5.10). The rest of the group includes Aaron Hill of EYEHATEGOD on drums, Gary Wrong on guitar, and Paul Grass of Egg Yolk Jubilee of saxophone.

Miss P has also been busy. According to spokesperson Brid Walpole, “Q and Miss P and 3 other New Orleans ladies have started a new hardcore band called FIRST which only plays first and they will kick your dog's ass….making surprise appearances on this tour.”

On the more traditional (relatively speaking) front, Miss P also is creating a new puppet show sound track album, "ANTHROPOMORPHIZER." Plus, she is releasing three puppet movies on VHS with Terror-Vision, a new label from Ryan of Graveface Records.

Quintron and Miss Pussycat are creative fixtures of the New Orleans art, music, and puppetry scenes, that between the two of them have pioneered of the genre “swamp-tech,” created full-length animated films like The Mystery of Old Bathtub, and worn some mind-blowingly weird outfits.

Several of the shows on the upcoming tour also include Goner Records girl gang Nots!
